    Junk E-mail Filter

Can anyone explain how the junk e-mail filter works? For some reason email that should not be going to the Junk mail folder keeps ending up there. I keep having to add names to the exception list.

    Re: Junk E-mail Filter

When you click on the Organise button for Inbox and then the Junk E-Mail filter, underneath the two areas where you can set your options there is some text of which the following is an extract. The Junk and Adult Content filters identify messages by looking for key words. They are not 100% accurate.
It seems that your (innocent) messages fall foul of this key word search. Perhaps some more knowledgeable person on this forum can point you at the word list. Obviously, they would not be able to mail it to you!

junk mail.txt i think it's called. it's somewhere on the hard drive.

it also looks for bulk mail, a lot of microsoft mailings get caught by it and need put on the exception list. also, the junk filter should be the last one on the list.

    Re: Junk E-mail Filter

Maybe I misunderstood the context of the question...

When you manually add addresses to the Junk and Adult senders list, those two files you refer to are created. I was referring to the file that explains the keyword filter criteria used by outlook when Junk E-Mail filtering is enabled. This is what Outlook bases its keyword filters on, the other two files hold the addresses of any senders you add to the filtering list.
