Error on page (XP Pro IE6)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29>
I am having a problem with Internet Explorer 6. Whenever I click on a series of pictures (like a slide show) I get an error on page message. Some pages load but there is a page loaded but with errors message. I read in previous posts that it could be a problem with Java but how do I check that? I appreciate all help. Thanks.

Lots of web pages contain scripting errors. These typically afflict JavaScript/JScript and VBScript, which are different from and unrelated to Java the programming language.

Now, while you cannot fix these scripting error on your end, they are the fault of the page's author, you can choose whether to be alerted to them. There have been a number of threads that showed where the checkboxes are in different versions of IE, but in general they are under Tools > Internet

<font face="Comic Sans MS">Thank you for your suggestion. I did enable the display of notifications about script errors as you suggested. This resulted in the attached error. This is happening on most of the web sites which suggests to me that it has something to do with my computer.
In Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab under Microsoft VM there are two items checked: Java console is enabled and JIT for virtual machine is enabled. Is this correct? This problem just began; I do not know what change caused it. </font face=comic> <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

Re: Error on page (XP Pro IE6)

    Hi Cherie:
I don't think you need Java console enabled. If you click the question mark in the upper right corner of the dialog box & click on an option, you will usually get an explanation of what it's for (albeit a somewhat poor explanation). The above option is for web developers.

    Also, I have:
    Disable script debugging CHECKED
Display a notification about every script error UNchecked.

Doing likewise should remove the notifications.
    Cheers,

Re: Error on page (XP Pro IE6)

<img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Thanks Phil. I changed my selections as you suggested and re-booted the computer. I received another message <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> that my system is low on virtual memory. I checked in the Help and Support for XP Pro and I found out how to enlarge the virtual memory. The problem is I have no clue what it should be! I have 256 MB of RAM and the suggested guideline is 1 1/2 times RAM, more if you routinely use programs that use more memory which we do. Please see attached screen shots. Any suggestions as to what I should set this to? Does the second hard drive need to have virtual memory set too?
    Thanks to all in advance. <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

    Hi Cherie:
That's a totally separate issue (virtual memory). I would post that question on the Win XP board.
    Cheers,

Thanks for your help, Phil. Your suggestions on the advanced IE settings are working. I appreciate it
I will post the new problem <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29> to the XP board as you suggested.
