Events (XP SP1)

I've got a whole lot of these errors in the application event log. As with most event errors from Microsoft, they give you precious little information to solve the problem with.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1025
Date: 3/2/2003
Time: 4:48:36 PM
User: NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM
Computer: xxxxxxxxxx
Description:
Windows completed processing of Computer Group Policy.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, if you click on the link for the "Help & Support Center", you don't get any help there. What you get is:

Event Details
Event ID: 1025
Source: Userenv

We're sorry
There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or Knowledge Base databases at this time. You can use the links in the Support area to determine whether any additional information might be available elsewhere.

I build, repair and update Computers, for a hobby, and I have to do alot research sometimes because there is so much to learn or figure out with so many different things that can go wrong. So yes I sleep with it under my pillow.

Thanks, I read the MS hit but it doesn't apply to me. I am not an Exchange user...

I have a mess of these so-called "errors". But they aren't really errors, more like warnings. Most have something to do with Group Policies which I might have caused by messing around with GPEdit.

Is the PC networked? Are you logging into a domain?

No, not networked. Just a single PC.

Not very helpful for Event 1025, but http://www.eventid.net often has good suggestions.

Well if those are not really errors and your system is running OK, I'd say you got two choices. 1 - get rid of the group policy changes to try to eliminate the log entries or 2 - live with the log entries. But wait, another choice would be to contact M$, pay them a bunch of money and let them tell you they don't know and not to worry.

Re: Events (XP SP1)

I'll probably clean up the Group Policy stuff at some point.

You're right about asking MS !

Conceptually, the problem with filling events with lots of useless garbage is that you'll miss something really important at some time. These things are not errors and would be better categorized as warnings.
