    Outlook SR3 (Outlook 2000 SR-1)

I downloaded the Outlook SR-3 service release and am attempting to install it. However, the very first thing the installation program does is attempt to install a service release to Front Page 2000 (which I have installed on my machine). Why it is fussing with Front Page I don't know. However, the installation program asks me to insert the Front Page 2000 installation disk. The only one I have is my Office 2000 disk. The installation program doesn't find what it's looking for, so it asks for a disk with the file data1.msi on it. The first one of my two Office 2000 disks has the file DATA1.MSI (note the caps), but the Outlook SR3 installation program doesn't recognize this as the file it's looking for.

So, I'm stuck trying to install Outlook SR3. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I think that the Microsoft service releases apply to all office applications regardless of which you have installed, and since you installed FrontPage separately, it is looking for the data1.msi for frontpage. I think they only way to get around this may be uninstalling FrontPage or finding a Frontpage CD. The reason for this is that the Windows Installer uses the msi to know what to install and how to install it. The service release can tell that FrontPage was installed using a different msi than the rest of office, and wants to access the frontpage msi to gather information on how Frontpage was installed.

Thanks for the explaination. I more or less assumed that; however, I don't recall installing Front Page separate from the rest of my Office 2000 programs (although it was so long ago I can't really remember). I've looked all over and don't find a separate Front Page disk, so I suppose I'll just have to be happy with the Outlook I've got and give up tyring to install SR3.
