    splitting columns (2000)

    Hi!

How do I split a column which has the address and phone number in one column and I want them separate for sorting purposes. Is there a way other than cutting and pasting. Thank you in advance.

If there is a special character separating the phone number from the address, e.g. a semi-colon, you can use the Data/Text to Columns wizard with that character as delimiter.

Otherwise, I assume there is a space between address and phone number. Do you have spaces within a phone number?

Thank you so much Hans! It worked! (There were no spaces in the phone #s). There were 7,000 rows! What would have taken hours and hours was done in a few minutes! Thank you again!
