Re: Automatic Maximize of any windows

Google turned up Actual Windows Guard. I haven't tried this myself, but the description

Actual Windows Guard will help you automatically minimize certain programs upon startup or open them full screen.

    seems to fit your bill.

If you like it, attach the ice cream to your reply.

Re: Automatic Maximize of any windows

Thanks, Hans. I am d/l as we squeak.

They don't call me conehead for nothing; usually for about 30 seconds.

    (fifteen minutes pass .......)

OK. I got it working. Initially no success, then I deleted ALL of its sample windows, including NotePad, and added my own one by one.

NotePad and Windows Explorer (F3: FileFind) both come up maximised.

I guess I'll edit this post to report any apparent failures.

    Thanks again Hans!

If you will CLOSE a program only in the maxed size, then it should open to the same size it was LAST closed at.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I'd like it if that were true, but it's never worked ilike that for me with NotePad, to name but one, in any version of Windows that i can remember.

I'm editing the original post with an update ....

    Automatic Maximize of any windows

I'd give up ice-cream for a week, maybe two, if I could find a way to turn on a switch in Windows that would force automatic maximization of every maximizable window.

Here I am in Windows Explorer FindFiles again (F3 function key), start the search, double-click on the title bar, AGAIN.

I habitually maximize every window, since my eyes are good at scanning stuff, and no monitor can ever be big enough.

Oh! To know that WHATEVER I choose to run, Windows would maximize the application window without me having to tell it, every time.

Word, Access, VBE, FindFiles, Eudora, Mozilla, EasyNotification, Wilbur, Notepad, Excel, WordPerfect, WordPro, Windows Explorer, since you ask.

(Tuesday 11th) The package worked fine, as far as I can see, and I've been enjoying a maximised Notepad. However my Win98SE system has been crashintg out with something caleld TapiSrv since I installed this package, so i am about to drag the installation folder to a new site, purge the registry and MSConfig startup and see if the problem goes away.

FWIW I've not heard of TapiSrv before.

The only Knowledge Base article for Windows 98 I could find that deals directly with TapiSrv is Dial-Up Networking Does Not Start. Don't know if it has any relation to your situation. TapiSrv is the telephony service, used by your modem.

Right, but I'd not heard of it (in five years of DUN?) until it started crashing after I'd installed the Windows maximiser.

I haven't figured out, for sure, if that was the cause, but it is a coincidence as in (Co-incident). I'm going to run a week without the maximiser, then try again.

I'd still prefer a switch that would, by default, maximise every window. My eyes are still pretty fast(!)

    Thanks again, Hans.

    Thanks Blue Heeler (grin!)

I have d/l and installed it.

I'm going to run with it for a week and see if anything unusual crops up. It is doing its job well with Notepad and Explorer-F3. My main requirements.

For a fairly extensive description try the American Kennel Club.

OK. Ken got in first. He must be a cross between a Blue heeler and a Kelpie. (grin)

I've never seen a Blue Heeler looking like Ken's Pic. Mine have all been slunk low to about half their standing height and nosing forward with a disarming speed that they achive by appearing to be standing still.

I've known short agrressive women nick-named "Blue", on account of their propensity to "bite 'em on the ankles", like the Black Knight in Holy Grail.

If I convert to Buddhism it would be on the chance that i could come back to this earth as a Border Collie; my second choice would be as a Blue Heeler. A lovely working dog IMHO.

Black Knight in the Holy Grail.

Now that movie brings back memories. I can't go into here, but they were fun times.
