Get rid of the Preview Pane (Outlook 2000 SR1)

Ok, I admit it - I hate the preview pane. Its easy enough to remove, just click the button to get rid of it.

However, each and every time that I add a new folder, the $%@#%@#% preview pane is shown again. Is there a way of changing the default view for a new folder?

    Can someone please help?

The default Setting is set in View, Preview Pane, by clicking the icon. However, I think the Preview Pane setting applies to -each- folder, not as a global default, so that the View has to be reset for each folder where preview pane was previously set On (not quite sure about that).

If you or someone you supervise or someone who loves you can throw together a little VBA code, I think you can whip through and shut them all off. This might take longer than doing it manually, but then you could post it here for future reference by other victims. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

The ideas you need to get from there to there are in these threads, and just need to be combined:

    Good luck!

Re: Get rid of the Preview Pane (Outlook 2000 SR1)

Did it! Without the use of a macro too.

One of jscher's link was the kicker. I reset my views using the /cleanviews switch, then removed the preview pane (pain) from my default views (views, current view, define view, modify, other settings and unchecked the 'show preview pane'.

Thanks all - I can now create new folders without the preview pain being 'on' by default.
