Hour glass during save (2002 sp1)

I've created a sheet with 24K rows and 10 columns. The formula subtracts two values. One references a cell in another worksheet and the other links to a cell from a *.csv file that is also open. Every thing seem OK until I try to save. I've waited over a half hour and the save never finishes. So I have about 240K links to cells in the open *.csv file. Is there a better way to link to the information in the *.csv file? Have I just ran into some kind of bug? Thanks for any ideas or help!

A much simpler way to refer to the file is to use Data, get external data, import text file.
When your source file has changed, simply go to the page/cells that contain the imported data and choose Data, Refresh data. XL will propmpt you for the file again, giiving you the opportunity to choose another.

    Thanks, Jan!
I applied XP SP2 and took your suggestion. I am able to do what I needed.
