Win 95 on floppies

Don't ask me why I've kept my Win 95 floppies. Guess it did the work when I needed it to. Since storing them has become a challege, I would like to know if there is a way to copy them to a, and be able to install it from a CD. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

This isn't what you asked for but I have a utility (an utility?) which creates self extracting images of floppies called DXP.EXE (Disk eXPress, shareware). A Google search returned 22 hits, some which look promising.

If all else fails at least you would have a secure backup.

I would expect the main problem you would run into - should you be attempting a 'clean' install - is that there may be no CD driver on the PC, particularly if it is an older machine that does not allow you to boot from the CD.
You may need at least a boot floppy which you could 'store' on the CD for later creation as required.

It may be worth a quick visit to Bootdisk.com to check out what they have on offer.

When you get those floppies copied to a CD, you can send them to me, I will keep them for you.

Ah, off-site storage of backups. Good, safe disaster recovery procedure.

Someday they will be worth something. Check out ebay. I have 4 copies of factory Win 3.11 floppies and a copy of MS Word 2, 5.0 for DOS and then Word for Windows 2.0 and 5.0.

Eh! Now there's a thought. I've got a copy of Windows per 3.x. It's either 2.1 or 1.2 must take a look!

I have some old DOS disks. Are you interested in them?

But only if someone has "collected" an old machine with a floppy drive to read them. If you had saved your collection of 8-track tapes all these years, could you find an 8-track tape machine to play them on ???

Pardon me while I eat my words. You can buy them used or in parts and buid or repair your own. Look here
