    Printer skips

I have an Epson 800 Stylus Photo Printer and Photoshop 6 & Windows 98. I just replaced my DSL modem with a newer model. I suddenly cannot print photos. It prints the first inch of a 4x6 before loding the next page and continuing. Everything in Photoshop looks normal, my settings are what I always use and the image size is 4x6.

There are no "errors" in my Device Manager and everything looks normal in my Printer settings.

    Thanks.

Have you tried to redefine the printer setup?

Go to Printers in control panel, select "remove printer" and rem move current printer. Then go to ADD printer and add it back.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I removed printer, rebooted, reinstalled (I downloaded the latest drivers from Epson), rebooted. Same thing happens. I can print regular letters etc. but when I try to print photos, it prints only an inch before going to the next page. I'm running Windows 98 on a Dell 333, Photoshop6.0 and have an Epson Stylus Photo 800.

What does a Print-Preview of a photo look like? Is the image whole or just the top bit?

Print preview looks fine, image appears neatly within the page. Image size is 4x6.

    Re: Printer skips

That indicates that the driver is functioning properly, as does the alternate thread with DaveA. Have you tried unplugging the printer and letting it sit unpowered for 5 to 10 minutes? I've seen this most with Epsons, sometimes the logic board gets a bit too intelligent and needs to be the automaton that is was created to be ; )

Sorry to jump in with an 'obvious' response, but have you tried reconnecting your old DSL modem? Is this modem internal/external?

    Re: Printer skips

Its an external ethernet. I sent the old one back in exchange for this new modem because the old one was too slow (it required you to enter the net before you could surf vs. the new one that is always connected). I want to reemphasize that when printing all other media, signs, posters, letters, color or B&W, the printer is normal. Its only when I try to print photos that it "skips".

Like Fish, sorry to jump in here so late, but I've been watching this thread hoping to see Y'ALL find an answer. Wow, this is a puzzler! So, you're saying that if you were to create say, a two-page Word document with a GIF on one page and a JPG on the other, the GIF would print alright but not the JPG page? I've never used a recent vintage Epson - is it possible that the PRINTER has something in its settings about either filetypes or color depth or something like that?

    Re: Printer skips

Icons, logos, banners all print O.K. I think it has more to do with the printer settings at maximum e.g. ICM at 1440 DPI, than anything else. When I use lesser quality settings, it works O.K. (I haven't tried a JPG at lower settings. I'll try this tonight but if it works at lower resolution, it stll doesn't help me print photos that require higher quality).
