    Excel Printing (97,2000,XP)

Forgive me if I'm asking the stupidest question in the world, but how on earth can you print a spreadsheet in Excel and include a background?
    (Format--Sheet--Background)
    Any help would be appreciated
    TIA

Unfortunately, sheet backgrounds are not printed - see XL: Cannot Print Background Graphic Included on Worksheet.

A workaround is to insert the graphic in a Word document, and print a batch of copies. Then print the Excel spreadsheet on these.

Some laser printers support printing a watermark.

As Hans said there is no direct way.

A workaround is to add a picture to a blank sheet. Size it, change brightness and contrast so it is dilute if desired.

Then use the camera tool to take a "picture" of the region you want to print and put it OVER the "background picture"
Then format the "picture" which contains the region of interest to have no background fill.

You can then print this page. The camera tool "links" to the original source, so any formatting or other changes are reflected in the picture.

The camera tool can be added as a toolbar button by: (XL97 directions, your results may vary)
    view - toolbars - customize
    "commands" tab - Category "tools"
near the bottom of the list is a camera icon
Left-click-hold and drag it to a toolbar.
    Click <close>

To use: highlight the region you want to "link", click on the camera icon. then click where where you want the "picture" (it can be on a different sheet)

Thank you for your prompt replies, many things for me to think of.
Maybe the print a batch of copies option would be easier, who knows, perhaps Excel XP2004 may offer what I want?
