    Animated GIFs (2002)

When I try added animated GIFs to a PowerPoint slide all I get is a non-moving image. I use the Insert, Movies... menu item and choose "all files" to find the GIF I want but no motion... The GIF moves if I open it in MediaPlayer.

When you insert an animated GIF into a slide, you only see the first frame in the various design views. You *should* see the animation when you start the slide show...

BTW, an animated GIF is not a movie, but a picture. An easier way to insert it is Insert/Picture/From File...
You can also create a slide with one of the object layouts, and click the "Insert Picture" icon.

Yes, you're correct. When I ran the slide show, the animation appeared. Funny though, the Help screen from PPT XP insists on using the Insert, Movie dialogue, even though the Insert, Picture works fine.
