Red v. Yellow Indicators

All of a sudden, the little yellow or red indicators in a forum aren't changing from red to yellow after I've read a thread and it just started last night. I did a re-boot but maybe it's my cookie or something. Anyone got any ideas what would cause this? To be honest, if it IS my Lounge cookie, I don't even know where to look to delete it - never done that before. I have my profile set to view boards in flat mode - always have. While I wait, I think I'll go change it to threaded and back again to see if that helps.

Start > Search and enter
cookie
in the search field.
Locate the applicable folder.

Or:
Start > Search and enter
wopr
in the search field.
This should locate the cookie, typically it will be:
bigaldoc@www.wopr.txt

Yup, it evidently WAS a problem with the cookie. Deleted it and all's back to normal again. I don't have any idea why, but my Lounge cookie was named aeh@www.wopr[1].txt (aeh being my local machine user account name). I don't know why the [1] was tacked on there - no others like it that I could see. Oh well..... thanks again!

Any files or cookies copied (they cannot be 'moved') out of the TIF will have '[1]' appended to it. Duplicate entries in TIF will have '[2]' and so on, although this will not be apparent until copied outside of the TIF.

Re: Red v. Yellow Indicators

My red & yellow indicators started playing silly ######s too a few days ago, and I can't get them to behave.

First I tried the Lounge cookie delete, then delete all cookies, and finally delete all temp net files (including cookies). Each done with a reboot after the delete. They all work, either briefly, or partially, but totally. The partial effect is that the indicators are OK for all but a few forums. Yesterday the Outlook forum had the problem. Today it's the Internet forum.

A further symptom is that when looking at the Main Index, or my Controls, the red numbers for threads & posts are OK. Moving down to forum and individual thread level things go awry, and no longer get refreshed correctly, or at all.

My IE TIF settings are to check for newer versions of stored pages on every visit. Cookies are set to accept first-party, block third-party, and allow session.

Any helpful ideas?

Seeing that you're using IE6, goto Control Panel|Add Remove Software|Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, click Change/Remove, select "Repair Internet Explorer". If that doesn't work (make sure you reboot before trying), select "restore the previous Windows configuration", reboot, then reinstall IE6. Good Luck
Cheers, Claude.

Thanks Claude, you helped fix it - indirectly .

Went to Control Panel, but couldn't find IE6 in "Change or Remove Programs". I did find it in "Add/Remove Windows Components", but the only option was to uncheck the IE box to remove access to it - no repair. But, while there, I had a look in "Set Program Access and Defaults". Grasping at straws, in the custom configuration I selected the "Use my current Web browser" radio button, and then logged out. Logged back in, (re)selected the "Internet Explorer" radio button, and logged out again.

So far so good, the red & yellow flags are doing their stuff again!
