    Installing Office XP Question (2002 - SP2)

We're going to be rolling out Office XP using and administrative installation. The resource kit has an option to "remove office". My question is, should we do a removal step before installing, or let the installation do the removal?

If you're doing an upgrade, I think you'll need to let the installer do the removal. Otherwise, XP won't be able to find a qualifying product to upgrade.

Thanks. I'll give my custom install a try. I questioned this, because they had a "removal" tood in the resource kit, and I was wondering why you would want to do a removal. I'm trying to make sure I get the 'cleanest' install possible. Microsoft also has Q254250 which talkes about remove office completely.
