OK check this article HOW TO: Edit the Most Recently Used Template List in the New Document Task Pane in Word 2002 in the MSKB. There is a section on how to remove items from the Task Pane.

    Hope this helps.

In both Word 2000 and 2002, by using the "Installer" I've been able to remove all the templates provided by Microsoft EXCEPT those two defaults. I'd love it if someone could come up with a way to remove these from the templates list, but so far no luck.

I've tried installer and you're right, Samantha, you can't remove these two defaults via the installation. I cannot seem to find a way to remove these. Anyone else have an inkling?
