Need CODES troubleshooting lesson (Office 2000 Pro)

As usual, an old WordPerfect user is trying to import old files into Word and reuse them. Either the conversion, my changes, or my sloppy blocking (dragging stuff rather than marking) is causing me major grief and without my trusty REVEAL CODES I'm lost. I know about CROSSEYES but $$$ are tight. I have attached a simple file with a table that is intended to have most lines very similar except for a few word wraps. Occasionally I have to do sorts on similar tables. I have already spent an hour getting the simple stuff (for me) fixed but am at a loss how to proceed. Yes the page is obsolete - we went back to WP but I want to learn low to attack this in the future as my wife gives me more to do regularly. Easiest way to see the bad areas is to block all of it.

What is it you want to do (but can't)?

In my experience, the best results gotten while converting from WordPerfect to MS-Word is to SaveAs in WordPerfect as a MS-Word document, and then go from there.

I hope you still have WordPerfect installed.

If the attached doc is what you want, this is what I did.
    1. Select the table.
    2. Use Edit/Replace to replace ^p (paragraph marks) with nothing.
    3. Table/Convert table to text... (at tabs).
    4. Convert table back to text, separated at tabs.
    5. Select the table again & sort.
    6. Delete the blank rows at the top.
