Restricting changes to table (Win ME/Access 97)

Is there any way that I can restrict the ability of an operator to modify certain fields in a table? I want her to be able to change certain data entry fields, but not other fields.

The easiest way would be to base the form on a query that you choose which fields to display.

The next step is to apply security to your database.

Actually, the usual advice is not to allow access at the table level at all - do all editing with forms. On forms you can lock fields but still display them and so on. Access security does not allow you to set permissions on individual fields, only at the table level. SQL Server as a back-end does however have that capability.

How do you keep the operator from getting to the database menu?
