    Counting characters (Excel 2000 SR1)

I have a list of bank names and need to isolate any bank names of 35 or more characters.
Is there a simple way to do this (without going blind or insane)?

    Thanks -

Re: Counting characters (Excel 2000 SR1)

There is a LEN() function which returns the number of character in a string passed to it.

=LEN(A1) returns the number of characters in A1. You could use =IF(Len(A1)>34,"X",""), which will return an X if the contents of the cell passed to it (A1 in this example) is greater than 34, or else a blank.
