    Endnotes placement

I am trying to get the endnotes to display after a given section rather than at the end of the document. Changing the endntoes option has no effect. No matter how many sections I enter I still get the endnotes at the end of the document. Does anyone know why this does not work?

    Re: Endnotes placement

You will need to indicate where the endnotes are to be placed, so after choosing "endnote" click on options and then placement, Endnotes, Options, Place At & choose "at end of section".

    Re: Endnotes placement

Maybe my previous post is not clear enough. I know how this should be done in principle but it just does not work in this file.

The options _are_ set to end of section, but still display at the end of the file. No matter how many sections I add (and whether they are continuous or next page) they still remain at the end of file. Any suggestions what might be going on?

    Re: Endnotes placement

Are you using Word97 or Word2000? Do you have any landscaped pages? I do know that the section page break bug can cause the endnote placement to screw up. Have you tried a search at Microsoft's Knowledge Base? I'm dashing off to work (& running out of time) else I'd provide the links. Hopefully one of the Word experts out there will have a quicker answer!
    Good luck & later ...

Sorry I wasn't aware that Word Doc files are not accepted as attachments.

    Re: Endnotes placement

I just tried it in Word 2000 and it worked fine. Cant imagine why, haven't tried it in Word 97. Is that what you are using?

    Re: Endnotes placement

Is this a change in the Lounge rules (I know, I should post this in the Lounge; you can move it if you feel it's appropriate)?

I know I've seen Word docs before as attachments. And I've uploaded Word 2000 docs. But I just tried from Word 97 & couldn't.

    Phil,

I think you might be able to again now. Give it a go.

    Rajesh,

Check out the attaching now. If it doesn't work as a Word doc, attach it as a zip. You should be able to change the post you tried to attach to originally, and attach it there.

    Re: Endnotes placement

No, I use Word 2000. Maybe I need to restate the problem. I can do it in a _new file_ but I cannot get it to work in an article i need to submit to a journal where the notes have been converted from footnotes to endnotes. Maybe the file simply is corrupted?
