    Can wildcard search do

Anyone know if wildcard search can do an "or" search? For example, I'd like to search a long document for either "AL" or "Alabamaa" (I live in AL|Alabama :-) ).

I tried (AL)|(Alabama) and it didn't work. Anyone else?

    TIA,

    Re: Can wildcard search do

    Hi David:

Nope. Word doesn't support Boolean searches. The best you can do is to do two searches without wildcards & using search for whole words only, & match case.

If you're looking for a utility that will support such searches, & do a lot that Word can't, see this post.

    Hope this helps.

Wow, and it's free, too! Can't beat that :-)

Thanks for the tip, Phil. This seems like a very useful place to be. I've known about Woody's Lounge for a long time but haven't ever used it. I'm delighted to find it such a great resource.

    Thanks again!
