ScreenPrint32 is another screen print/capture program that I found in the Earthlink News Letter. However I have found this one to be a lot easier to use & it offers four capture options. A side from the regular Full Desktop & Active Window captures are the Prompt User For Capture Area & Capture a Predefined Area. I find the

One that I use regularly, which is rarely mentioned is EyeDropper.
It's a tiny 30KB self-contained .exe that runs from the tray. It's major virtue for me is its magnified cursor view, which enables accurate capture at the pixel level. This means no post-processing/ cropping for document-ready graphics. It's freeware too <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>.

Agreed! I just discovered that once I copy and paste a screen shot, that I can crop it by drawing with the mouse & then pressing Ctrl+Y (I used to cut what I wanted, delete the rest, & paste back in). Hi Phil,

I didn't know the shortcut. For cropping purposes I'd use MS PhotoEditor (Edit, Paste as New Image, [select the area with the mouse], Image, Crop [I guess, it's 'Recortar' in my Spanish ver.]). But almighty IrfanView did it again- wonder if ever it will stop doing it... <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

Over the years, I've found it's "horses for courses" with screen capture software. Eyedropper is great for precision captures; no post-cropping needed. I use another that can capture without closing an open dropdown menu, another that will allow a cursor image to be added to the capture, and still another that allows me to send a snap direct to an e-mail attachment without having to manually save to file. They all have their places, and are most valuable tools when generating documentation. All the ones I have uses for are freeware, readily downloadable off the net. I can post details if interested.

PrintKey2000 appears to have gone shareware (v.5.10 is freeware, try here )
WinDowse - an amazing little freebie, also valuable for obtaining technical information about any window.
