    delete logical drive

I have a Win98-2 machine with one hard drive - fat 32. It has an extended partition with 2 logical drives, D and E. Both drives are empty. C contains all the software and data. I would like to eliminate drive E and format D to the full capacity of the extended partition. Can I do that with F-disk without messing up the C drive? C is a 14G partition and D is 2G, E is 500M.

Im'not sure about Fdisk. But Partition Magic will allow you to do that and many other things.

I think the answer is yes!
255867 - How to Use the Fdisk Tool and the Format Tool to Partition or Repartition a Hard Disk
will give you the 'official' instructions, plus you should find plenty of help at fdisk.com.

Personally, I always felt a little uneasy using fdisk, but never managed to achieve the disaster I (unjustifiably) feared! Take your time, back-up the important stuff and shout if you need clarification on anything.

Definately, go into fdisk and delete D: and e:, then make 1 partition, reboot and format... just make sure you DO NOT delete c:

I would suggest try using fdisk while in 98, so it won't let you delete the c: drive....

    Re: delete logical drive

Ok, thanks for the advice. I thought I could do that without deleting c. I've used F disk many times but never when I wanted to save anything. I am to cheap to buy Partition Magic just for this one time. I have an old version of PM but it doesn't want to work with fat32. I'll give it a try after reading the links provided. Thanks again.
