    Lotus Notes Inbox Reader

Hello, all. Does anyone know if there's a reader program that can interpret Lotus Notes inboxes, (.nsf files)? I've taken some archive copies of my mailbox at work and burned them to CD. I'd like to be able to look at them, retrieve messages, attachments etc from home, but I'm perfectly happy with my current home email solution and don't want to have to install a Lotus Notes client.

I suspect the answer's going to be "no" but I thought it worth asking the question. I had the same problem a few years ago when I migrated away from AOHell and had a couple of year's worth of email trapped in a large monolithic user ID file. Any similar requests about a reader for that were met by a huge brick wall so I finally had to abandon the idea. <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

    It would be nice, though...

Any thoughts, comments or suggestions gratefully received.
    Regards,

    Steve

    Re: Lotus Notes Inbox Reader

    Hi Steve...

I'd suggest looking at the http://notes.net website, specifically in the "Sandbox". I've found various little gadget's there for use at work with our Notes installations.

Don't think you'll find an external reader for a Notes mail database. About the easiest thing to do would be to create an ODBC link to a Notes view in your Notes mail database. You'd have to create a Notes view with (at the least) the following fields: 'From', 'DeliveredDate', 'Subject' and 'Body'. The view should reference the 'Memo' form. There's no view which contains these fields in the native design (at least in Notes R5). You'd have to then use some sort of an export tool to map the data into another program or an ASCII file. Unfortunately, I think the only way you're going to get a Notes ODBC driver is to install the Notes client. Which makes the above process redundant. I think you can still download a trial version of Notes 6, however.
