Slow Inserts

Hi,
I have MS works 4(?) installed on my win 98 pc. It was preinstalled when I purchased the pc. Lately it has been very slow when trying to insert a picture from a file. What usually causes this behavior? Also, the pictures don't seem to show up unless I doubleclick on them and launch a picture editor. When the editor closes, the picture is visible in the works document. But not all of the pictures exibit this problem. Only some of them.

Any suggestions?

This sounds like it may be more of a general windows problem than specifically Works.
Have you done a defrag and Scandisk recently?
How much spare space on your HD?
Have you installed any new software recently? (Virus scanner etc...)

I have word on it as well. I haven't tried to see if it behaves the same way. I may try reinstalling works.
