    Ordering Pages in Outlook Forms

Using OL2K IMO, Does anyone know how I can make outlook show my custom page as the front page & the standard page as a later page in my custom contact form.
I want to display more info than the standard offers, but use the standard page to enter phones etc so it automatically checks them etc.

yes, enable the other page then use a script to show it by default.

    MMM...
    Thanks Mary :-)
Only trouble is - I'm too dumb to know how to write such a script. Hopefully some kind soul can explain this to a VBA newby?
    Thanks

Script to Show Pages in Outlook Forms

    Come on!
I've tried & don't see how to do it.
Surely someone can show me this simple little thing.
After all - I posted my word macro!!!
Is there no justice in this world?

actually, you might not need a script - see if you can hide the page after showing your other one - see the form toolbar. not sure if it's new to ol2002 or not.

if not, you need to use vba, not script (my bad <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>) the method is
    hideformpage(pagename)
i can't remember if you need quotes around the page name or not - probably do.

Re: Script to Show Pages in Outlook Forms

    Thanks Mary,
    - What's the difference between a script v's bva?
    - If I copy the original page onto another page, all the automatic phone completions etc don't work.
    - Hence I want to keep the original page visible & untouched, behind my new page. I assume hideformpage would hide it completely?
I'm assuming I write something that runs whenever the form opens, to show the second page?
Dunno why I can't just change page orders!??
    Thanks again.
    Yours Hopefully.

Re: Script to Show Pages in Outlook Forms

shoot forgot you wanted it to display first and not have the other one hidden.

vb script is a lightweight programming script, VBA is more powerful. vb script is used in forms, VBA is used in outlook's vb editor and can control the interface or forms. it's also used throught the entire office suite.

you can add a second set of fields. using your phone number idea: add the approprate fields to the other page (drag from the field chooser) as needed. when data is entered into either field, it updates the other. if your version of OL allows you to hide the first page, just add the fields you want ot the second. you cannot have the dropdowns for the numbers in any version - if you want 8 phone number fields, you need al l8 displayed. <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>

i'll see if i can find the code for opening with a different tab. browsing the object model isn't refreshing memory and it's been years since i did it.

Re: Script to Show Pages in Outlook Forms

I've attached a copy of my form to better show what i'm talking about.
Originally I tried to just modify the standard front page to show more phone # fields, but found it lost the clever underlining/double click/auto-checking feature for entries in any fields that I'd customised.
Hence I made my own copy of that page so I can see more info when I want or use the standard page to enter info. But I'd rather my page was the front page!

Add this simple function to your code:

    Function Item_Open()
    Item.GetInspector.SetCurrentFormPage "My Details"
    End Function

You know of course to change "My Details" to the correct tab name.
