Re: News Desk--Free 4500 Sites in one Place

This sounds like the fastest way not to get any work done that I've ever heard of! <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

Actually, these days, the news is the last thing I want to see on my computer. It is EVERYWHERE else.

News Desk--Free 4500 Sites in one Place

News Desk is an RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) that uses the .net framework you can download .net redistributable final beta and allows web browsers to fetch and format the content in xml.

What this does is to use RSS to allow you to pull in up to 4500 potential news sites of your choosing with headlines and summaries--you add the ones you want--into one place without having to waste time using the browser and loading them.

"And NewsDesk is very easy to use. You'll be reading headlines from sources like CNN, BBC, ITN, Financial Times, USA Today, New York Times, Computerworld, Wired News, and other preloaded sources within one minute of opening NewsDesk for the first time. It's that easy."

As always, Jefferson, you make a great point. It is far and away one of the fastest ways to get nothing done, especially for news junkies, but it was the first easy to understand .net application I was able to experience except for the case studies and anecdotes I see at some of the Microsoft promotions. And actually, besides all the endless blogs, and sites, and tutorials, you can read about 30% of what's for sale on the newstand free on the web.
