Send/Receive notice in Outlook (Outlook XP (2002))

My Send/receive progress box shows up and doesn't go away even though the box is always checked for "don't show this dialogue box during send/receive".
I have to manually close it.
I have tried to uncheck the box, save, close Outlook, open Outlook again and recheck box and that does not solve problem.
Any help sure would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Leif,

The status bar was already checked - but I unchecked it and checked it again, then F9 as the article said - now I will see if that does it. I hope so, if not I will get back to you.

Thank you for your help.

UGH! It didn't work. The dialog box still comes up and has to be closed manually.

It sure is annoying because it pops up often (I check email server every 10 minutes via cable modem) - not always - while I am working on other stuff. It is frustrating.
