    Database Results Error my fanny! (FP2002)

    Hello;

    I have a user with an .asp page that populates a table using database regions within an Excel spreadsheet. This has worked fine for weeks, yet suddenly stopped working last night (with nothing having been changed). The error appears in each table cell that the database populates and reads: Database Results Error [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path.

    I've checked the server and the Excel ODBC driver is present. The web settings show that her database is defined in the web and verified. Why it has suddenly started turning up 'unknown' I have no idea. I've also looked at global.asa and it appears to be fine. Her page code is calling the database connection correctly (it was created with the database wizard) and I can't find anything wrong, anywhere. The web is defined as an application web.

    Has anyone ever run into this? I've rebooted the server in desperation and that hasn't helped. <img src=/S/cauldron.gif border=0 alt=cauldron width=20 height=20>

    Regards,
    Dave

    I've only heard of it as a symptom of a corrupted file. You don't say so but presume you've done Detect and Repair. As memory yells in my ear, it also had to do with a re-install. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

    Well, later in the day it started working again on its own. Go figure...

    With security on IIS, a similar error is returned with an Access database (using ADO), if you use Windows Integrated Security, on an .mdb located on another server. The IIS server will not use the 'logged' in users credentials to connect to the network resource..and instead of returning an error message about security, it says 'File not found'. Go figure.

    May or may not have been the case...just a thought.
