One thing i hate about Access..... (2000)

Is that when you go back into a query after creating one, it makes the width of the query boxes all the same, (about 2 inches or so)

    so.... your starter for 10....

Is there a way to make Access expand each box to its maximum size ? <img src=/S/blackteeth.gif border=0 alt=blackteeth width=20 height=20>

I suspect the answer is no..

    You guessed right...

I agree with you that it can be irritating. On the other hand, you can create pretty long expressions in the query grid; "fit to contents" the way you can do in datasheet view could lead to columns wider than your screen, which would make editing extremely difficult.

I wouldn't know how to write code to "autofit" the columns in the query design grid. But selecting some or all columns and double clicking the right edge of one of them isn't that bad...

You can also Shift F2 in a cell to zoom the text and see all it's contents <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Queries are NOT tables, even if they look like them, so their columns don't have a persistent width. If you want that, display them in a form or a datasheet.
