    Mail Merge (Word 2000)

    Hi,
Does anyone know how I can group results in mailmerge?

    i.e.
    Johns Smith
    Record
    Record
    Record

    Fred Blogs
    Record
    Record
    Record

Ideally with each group starting on a new page?

    Re: Mail Merge (Word 2000)

If the number of records is fixed (i.e. always 3) it is fairly easy to use the {Next Record} merge field. Otherwise it gets really ugly, and you would be better off either doing some sort of record processing in advance to combine things into one record, or to use Automation with your data source to actually build the merged result. In one case a few years ago, I resorted to using a catalog merge, and then ran a complex Word module to reformat the document after the fact. It was ugly! Thus I suggest a different approach.

Try Cindy Meister's page, especially for her description of Address Book in mail merge.
    Cheers,

Many thanks for this reply. The number of records is not fixed unfortunately so a different approach is required.
