    Compatibility (Word XP sp2)

Many of our users are complaining that the compatibility setting (Tools|Optioins|Compatibility) is changing without their having visited that option/tab. Word 2002 is the original setting on the documents, but occasion they find it has switched to Custom, with one or more of the sub-options checked... or worse, Word 97 is selected.

    Has anyone seen similar situations?

    Thanks,

Is it changing on new documents or existing documents? That should be a document-specific setting. If a document was created in Word 97, the Compatibility setting should say Word 97 - if it was created in Word 2002, it should say Word 2002. You can, of course, change the setting after the fact, however, so that isn't always 100% reliable.

It's changing on existing documents. I realize the compatability setting is document-specific... but we've found the answer. Some users have had the save option "Disable features introduced after Word 97" checked. We're not quite sure how/why that is happening, but it's easy enough to remedy.

    Thanks.
