    Choosing Duplex Printing

I'm a newbie...both to this forum and to VBA programming... so my apologies if this is a silly question. I'm using Word 2000/Windows 2000 and I am trying to create a macro in Word that will choose duplex printing. I've tried unsuccessfully to record the process of turning on duplexing through the printer properties. Hunting through the VBA help hasn't helped much either! Thanks for any info you have.

    Re: Choosing Duplex Printing

Firstly it is not a silly question.

The best solution to your problem is to install a duplex version of your printer as well as a non duplex version. You can call them different names, just have the settings for one set to duplex and the other non duplex. Then in your VBA module you set Application.ActivePrinter = "Duplex", where Duplex is the name used to identify the duplex version. The best way to get the exact description of this is to record a macro selecting the printer.

Anderew is absolutely right on both counts (not a dumb question, and his clever solution).

You SHOULD be able to set a property for your active printer like this:

    Dialogs(wdDialogFilePrint).DuplexPrint = true

DuplexPrint is a valid dialog argument, but either that's not the way to use it, or MS doesn't really support it.

Try finding any documentation on this or any other dialog argument properties and you'll find the Holy Grail right next to it.
