    Calculating % change (Excel 2000)

Can anyone tell me how to create a formula to support a percent change? I have sales data that will either go up or down from month to month and don't know how to format the cells to show the percent change either in a negative or positive direction. Thanks! tevert@aaaohio.com

    =(New - Old) / Old
    Format as percentage

Will tell you that the NEW is x% larger (if positive) or -x% smaller (if x<0) than the OLD value

    Funny. I habitually use

    =New/Old -1

    to avoid typing those parens.
