Can not save attachment to disc (Outlook 2000 SP-3)

OK, this is Outlook 2000 SP-3 (upgraded from SR-1a) and I know about the changes regarding Outlook attachments that was included from SP-2 and forward.

As I understand it, for example a zip-file is not included in the level 1 list, that means that the zip-file will show up as an attachment to the mail.

But when I read such a mail and double click on the attached zip-file and in the dialog chose "save to disk" Outlook is unable to save it. A dialog says "Outlook can not save the URL address in a file. The file can not be found. Check the path and that file name is correct." (As this is a non english version I have to translate, but I hope you will understand.)

But if I right click on the mail and chose "Show attached files" and then chose "save to disk" it works. Why can I not save a file to disk from inside reading the mail as described?

Also if chose to right click on the attached file when reading the mail I can save it.

Another odd thing is that when I save a file to disk using the second method (right click in mail list or right click in mail) the saved file gets a "last change time" that is one hour plus actual time. Any thoughts what might have caused this?

What is the file name when you do it this way? Not sure why it should create problems for Windows when you double-click it instead, but maybe it does.

Regarding the time, apparently Outlook stores some file attributes along with the file. Maybe the one you're saving just happens to have been created an hour from the time you saved it (in another time zone, I mean). What time do you get if you save it again in a different folder?

Re: Can not save attachment to disc (Outlook 2000 SP-3)

    Thanks for a quick reply!

Well, any file name, example: Test.zip. Since I have not been sending or receiving attachments after upgrading to SP-3 I made some dummy files for evaluation purpose; zip and txt. Also I tried with a small exe (in this case executable zip-file).

Regarding time: no, the file was not created in another time zone. As described, I created some files, sent them, read the mail and saved the files.

The result is the same if I save in different folders. Funny (?) is that "created" and "changed" has exactly same time and seconds always is "00", for example 08:15:00. But time for "used" is actual time I saved the file, for example 07:15:59.

Ah well, I guess I should have kept the old Pegasus mail ...

    Any other thoughts are appreciated.

    Regards,
