    Cannot Reload Word

Looking for help here. I had occasion to add a new feature to MS Word not long ago and got the following error message: "C:windowstempIXP000.TMPOQFE7140_client.msp cannot be found. Verify you have access to this location and try again or try to find installation package OQFE7140_client.msp in a folder from which you can install the product."

I do not have this file. What gives? I've run the install program several times before with no trouble. I am running Office 2000 on a Pentium III with Win 98 OS. Would appreciate any help.

    Re: Cannot Reload Word

Lord, I cannot remember. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 width=39 height=15> Every so often Word would tell me that I needed the install CD to be able to do something. Every time before, no problem. I had a friend tell me that what I needed to do was uninstall the entire Office suite and reinstall. But I'm terrified to do that if the CD is not playing now. Know what I mean? Thanks.

    Re: Cannot Reload Word

Maybe then your Registry has got messed up. Try some of these steps:

    1. Uninstall some utilities that you never remember using but have installed (including add-ins/ plug-ins) from Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs.

    2. Note which of these uninstalls gives a message "could not uninstall completely" or something to that effect. These are pointers to useless or corrupt Registry entries.

    3. Run Disk Clean from Programs-Accessories-System Tools to remove unwanted files.

    4. Run Disk Defragment from Programs-Accessories-System Tools.

    5. Run msconfig from the Dos prompt and on the startup tab, check for "StartIE" or "QAZ NotePad" or "NotePad" and uncheck them.

    6. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del once

    Re: Cannot Reload Word

My last post got interrupted because my keyboard "hanged".

    6. Press Crtl-Alt-Del once and see look for programs which you cannot recognise. Especially NotePad, which you should select and press End Task.

If there are too many incomplete unistalls, you should take a risk of running some reliable registry cleaning utility.

Even if MS Office or Word does not work , everything else will work better and faster. For the former, you will need some more drastic measures.
