Precision Time (WIN XP 5.1 SP1)

Has anyone heard of this - Precision Time?

All of a sudden, a Window type messagebox pops up and asks me if I want
to synch my system time with atomic time or something like that.

Before I remove/uninstall it, does anyone know anything about Precision Time?

    Thanks!
    Michael

Michael, If it is installed - uninstall it. Don't answer yes. XP already has the ability to synch your PC with an atomic clock. Double click on the time in your system tray and then click on the Internet TIme tab.

Thanks Joe! It is now uninstalled!!

Would you know how it got there? I never downloaded it - and I gather it didn't
    come with XP.
    Spyware?

    Thanks!

Spyware? Considering it seems tied in with Gator I think the answer is YES!
    Did you ever install Kazaa?

The "how it got there" reminds me of spyware that does installs without asking you like Gator, and Xupiter. Search for a number of threads in the lounge on Xupiter and how to uninstall it and search for Gator and Xupiter on your system; and if you find them get rid of them. Also if you don't have the spy protectors like Adware 6, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, and Spyware Guard I highly recommend them--they're easy to use and free and discussed a lot in past posts.

Never downloaded kazaa. I knew about that one!!
    I will look for Gator & Xupiter (those <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0>s).

    Thanks for the heads up.

I will also read up on and get my hands on a spy protector. I see you listed 4 of them. Do you use all 4 ?

Michael, Some stuff is downloaded as an ActiveX control. Make sure in Tools | Internet options | security that you at least have prompt set for 'download signed ActiveX controls' in all zones. That way you'll at least be asked and have a chance to say NO.
