Is there a way to format a superscript (such as for TM) that would consistently format about 2pts smaller than the word it relates to?

Choose Insert>Symbol from the menu bar
Choose the Symbols tab and make sure the font is symbol
Click the TM on the bottom left row and click the Insert button.
The TM is inserted superscript and sized appropriately with the size of the text.
hope this helps...

Try this: after you insert the symbol, select it and then change the font size . If you use it often, you can make it an AutoText/AutoCorrect entry.
Hope this helps.
