    Outlook Attachments

I noticed that somettimes when I attach a file to an email in Outlook 2000 and send it, Outlook zips the file. In a recent incident, the file was a .jpg. I hit send then happened to look at teh email in the outbox and saw the file as file.jpg.zip.

I cannot find this dealt with in Outlook Help nor as an option any place in Outlook. How does Outlook decide whether or not to zip a file and can this feature be modified/eliminated?
