Turn off Read Only (Office 2000/Win 2000)

Recently installed both Office and Win 2000.
Now all my prior documents and sheets are set to "Read Only".

Is there a quick way to reset them all? I know how to do them individually.
    Win 8, Firefox 16.0.2, Thunderbird 15.0.2

If you want to reset the Read only attribute for all files in a folder tree then you can issue the DOS command
    ATTRIB -r /s *.*
