Saving Declined Appointments in Calender (Outlook XP)

Is there a way to keep meetings in the Calender that have been declined - I want to be able to decline an appointment but still know the meeting is taking place.

Not that I know of, but you could use "Tentative" Acceptance, and edit the response with a message to the Meeting Requestor that you will not attend, or you can "ghost" the calendar item by recreating it in the Calendar and set "Show Time As" to "Free". You can automate the latter approach with some VBA coding.

Many thanks, two questions, firstly when you say "ghost" do you mean manually enter it? and secondly are you aware of anywhere I could find an appropriate VB script, my VB skills aren't up to this.

Yes, by "ghost" I mean manually re-enter it so that you are the Requestor.

It ocurred to me that a Rule might work, so I'll test later. If a Rule doesn't work I won't have an opportunity to try to code for a few days due to my regular workload.

Thanks for trying, it seems such a basic thing to want - maybe I should suggest it as a "feature" to Microsoft

Would be very grateful if you could thing about a script when you have time - will need to buy you a very large drink if you're ever in London.
