Sun, Mar 18, 2001 at 9:30pm(PST) Hi, am new here. Need help with error message that appears on starting Windows98. Desktop icons appear then box saying "Incorrect Version of MAPI32.dll. Have tried researching Microsoft but apparently don't have the right search words. This may be connected to some softwear, but don't know. Thanks.

This does not sound like a DLL that should be firing up right away, unless you have a mail program in your start-up folder. Scanned for viruses lately? (If you don't have AV software, try Housecall, http://housecall.antivirus.com/.)

Edited by Phil Rabichow on 01/03/21 19:55.
Hi Clipper:

    1. First, close down everything & go to Start/Run & type msconfig<enter> (no <>).

CORRECTION FOR EDITED POST: I meant to say "type sfc". I did not mean msconfig. SFC is the system file checker.

    2. This should tell you if there's a corrupt mapi32.dll

Also, click the taskbar & press F3 & do a search for mapi32.dll. Select it & press Alt+Enter. Note the version number & date.

Then go to http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/...ion/dllinfo.asp & see what version is the latest for your operating system. You can download the correct version through this dll database.

    Hope this helps.
