    Clock and DST

There is something strange going on with the (adjustable) time. Here in the Netherlands, we switched to Daylight Saving Time last week (March 30), which meant we went from UTC+1 to UTC+2. I adjusted my offset accordingly and all was well. Tonight, the clock adjusted itself spontaneously, so that it now displays UTC+3 (see screen shot). I thought the server used UTC throughout the year, but apparently is observes some kind of DST as well?

Yep - the Lounge is ahead of itself.

In Perth, we get by without DST, so my UTC +8 offset is unchanged, but the Lounge time is now an hour ahead of the local clock time.

    Re: Clock and DST

    Nope.

The Adjustable time is showing as 04:45, but the time is actually 1 hour later.

USA East Cost should differ from UTC by -5 hours except during the two short intervals when time Springs forward or Falls back.

    Re: Clock and DST

If you are on UTC-5 during the winter period, and if you have DST where you live, you are on UTC-4 during the summer period. UTC itself doesn't have DST.

This means that you'll have to change your offset in your Display Preferences twice a year. There was a little glitch last weekend when the server temporarily displayed the wrong time, but Claude corrected that very quickly.

Interpreting your comments, I have to assume that, for some inexplicable reason, you seem to have missed this microsoft announcement, no?

Thanks Leif, I have to admit, I did get a little confused there, but now that I know you're looking after things, I'll be ok. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

It's not just the Lounge which has problems with Daylight Saving time!

Read the definitive account of problems with Daylight Saving Time and NTFS and FAT file systems in
"Beating the Daylight Savings Time bug and getting correct file modification times" by Jonathan Gilligan,
    with a wet towel round your head! <img src=/S/brainwash.gif border=0 alt=brainwash width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> <img src=/S/flee.gif border=0 alt=flee width=25 height=25>
