    XPHome Metwork problem (WinXP Home)

I have two PC connected to a Lynksys DSL router. Both can connect to the internet m without any problems and one and see the other but can't acces it. The other simply refuses to find the network. I have already worked through Woody's XP for Dummies and the XP networking trouble shooter but so far nothing has worked.

Re: XPHome Network problem (WinXP Home)

    For starters:
Turn OFF ALL firewalls. You will need to turn it back on when you find the problem.
Remember that XP comes with one and is turned ON by default.
Do you have a third party firewall running?
Have you defined any "Shares" on all machines, the default ones are for machine use ONLY?
    Have you shared your printer(s)?
Is the "WorkGroup" name the same?
Is either or both of the machines running NTFS?
Do you have same account on both machines?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thanks. That was the problem. Norton's Internet firewall was killing network access.
