    new server (Access2000)

Help! Our hardware guy installed a new server this past weekend. Everything was supposed to be transferred over but he "forgot" that I have a split database on the local drive of two computers. So now, the back end is on the new server and the front end is on the old server. Do I simply delete the front end that is on the local drive of the two computers and create new ones or do I need to do something else?

I'm confused. <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> You said the backend was on the new server and the *frontend* was on the old one, but then you asked about the front ends on the local machines. You should merely have to relink the front ends to the backend on the new server.

Ok, sorry for the confusion. I didn't realize I could just relink them.

Sorry, already solved after Charlotte asked the same question

If you have frontends stored locally, you'll have to run the Linked Table Manager (Tools/Database Utilities) to update the links to point to the backend on the new server.

If you use a frontend on the server: will the old server be taken down? If so, can you transfer the frontend to the new server, or have it transferred for you? If the (local) path on the new server is the same as the (local) path on the old server, the transferred frontend should work without modification. Users will have to be instructed that the frontend has moved, or be provided with new shortcuts. If the old server will remain in function, you can use the Linked Table Manager to point the linked tables to the backend on the new server.
