Suggestions for Reducing Presentation Sizes (PowerPoint XP)

I am trying to help someone come up with tips for keeping Presentation files as small as possible. I have some suggestions that I plan on giving and thought I would run them past this forum for a sanity check and further suggestions. They are:

    1.
Use the Compress Picture option to reduce size (this alone took a 40 MB file down to 11MB)

Edit pictures to proper size in external graphic editor (e.g. Photoshop) rather than resize in PowerPoint

Save images as JPEG for Photos and GIF for logo/screen caps.

Insert Excel tables as picture, not object
Any other ideas or disagreements with these suggestions?

    Turn off Allow Fast Saves.
Don't copy/paste or drag and drop images into PPT; use Insert/Picture/From File instead.

Also see http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00062.htm for even more tips on keeping PPT file sizes small. Be sure to hit the link from there to TAJ's site for a really good tutorial on optimizing graphics for use in PPT.

Assuming that your main concern is reducing the size of the resulting file(s) that you will e-mail, is there any real advantage to linking over inserting since you will have to send the linked file?
