Delaying sending emails? (OE 6 SP 1)

In Outlook you can delay sending an email until some time in the future that you can specify.

Is there such a feature in Outlook Express, for if there is I cannot find it.

    Hi, John ~

In OE there is no way to automate sending at a predetermined time in the future. This is as close as you can get:

Go to 'Tools' > 'Options...' > 'Send' tab
Uncheck 'Send messages immediately'
'General' tab > uncheck 'Send and receive messages at startup'
Uncheck 'Check for new messages every <X> minute(s)'
'Apply' > 'OK'
Now you can just go to 'Tools' > 'Send and Receive' & simply choose one of the following

'Send and Receive All'
'Receive All'
'Send All'
as you see fit when you need.

So my Bright Idea of being able to send emails on one particular Outlook Express Identity only from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, is a bit of a non-starter, I hear you cry!

If you install a local SMTP server and point OE to that for outgoing mail, maybe you can rig the server settings to accomplish it. Would be pretty stealthy, too.

Hi John, you could create the message/s you want to send (assuming you are writing them outside of the hours you mention), then save in your Drafts folder until you do want them to go out. To do this simply create the message as you would normally, but instead of hitting the SEND button, close the message down, it will come up with an option "Do you want to save changes" say YES, this then stores the message in the Drafts folder. When you are online during the day, you can grab the message from that folder and SEND. HTH.

Yes, that's a good idea that I think I have tried quite some time ago. Fading recollection is that the messages disappeared, never to be seen again!

But a good candidate for another try!
