    Spanning Disks with Direct CD?

I appreciate all the information that was given about Direct CD & Easy CD Creator in a thead starting with <post#=189934>post 189934</post#>. I have an additional question. Using either application, can you span CD-Rs? i.e. can I use either program to copy e.g. 900MB of data & have it prompt me for the next CD when the first one is full.

If not, are there any other apps that would do this?

    Thanks to everyone in advance.

I have NOT seen any software that will do that with CDs.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thanks, Dave. I guess such a device would be pretty slow. It would first have to calculate how much space was left on a CD, calculate the space all the files to be copied would take up, & then somehow keep track during the copying, making sure that a file wasn't split onto 2 CDs. Not asking for too much, am I. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Re: Spanning Disks with Direct CD?

    Hi, Phil ~

Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.0 has a module called 'Creator Classic' and is home base for burning data, music, and bootable CDs and DVDs. It's also where you go if you want to burn more large files or data than a single disc can hold spanning across multiple discs. To span the data, just select the desired files and click the burn button. When the first disc is full, you're prompted for another blank. You can read these discs like any other, but if a file or folder spans two or more discs, you must load a retrieval utility that Roxio places on every disc you burn. It's simple and easy to use.

Roxio has another prodouct called WinOnCD 5. If your files or file sets are too big for a single disc, WinOnCD 5 Power Edition automatically spans your files across multiple discs, even if you want to add data later.

Nero has a soon-to-be-released product suite that will include Nero's 'BackItUp' - full, incremental, differential and HD backup with disc spanning.

Eventually this will be done away with by way of DVD <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Bruce, you write
<hr>Eventually this will be done away with by way of DVD<hr>
By that time, somebody will be asking if it is possible to span DVD's. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Hi Bruce:
Thanks for all the information. Eventually, I'll have to upgrade to something better. I still have Easy CD Creator 4x and I couldn't find any spanning feature in it. And, Hans, I'm sure I'll be asking how to span DVDs eventually. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>
