    Counting problem (XP)

I want to use the COUNT function in respect of a range but the end of the range will change depending upon a calculated value which will represent the last row in the range. The start cell and the column reference will remain constant. e.g. =COUNT(A1:A#) where # is the variable. How do I get Excel to recognise the changing row number?

If the row number is in cell B2:

    =COUNT(INDIRECT("A1:A" & B2))

Let E1 house the last row, calculated by a formula...

    =COUNT(A1:INDEX(A:A,E1))

I hope you have in E1...

    =MATCH(9.99999999999999E+307,A:A)

as formula to determine the last row.
