How to disable Menu Bars in IE 6.0 (IE 6.0 SP1)

I am running on Windows XP Professional. How do I lock the menu bars in IE so no one can change the settings or add things to it. Can you help?

The easy way to lock (and unlock) the toolbars, is to right-click on them and select "Lock the Toolbars"

A more permanent method is to edit the registry. Courtesy of this article from winguides.com:

This setting allows you to lock the Internet Explorer toolbars in place so they can not be moved by clicking-and-dragging.

Open your registry and find or create the key below.

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "Locked" and set it according to the value data below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

Registry Settings
User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerToolbar]
Value Name: Locked
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = unlocked, 1 = locked)

If you are at all unsure of working in the registry, post back.

Leif he is wanting to lock the Menu bar to where no changes can be made to it. I could not find anything on it anywhere. The tool bar lock only stops the bar from being moved around if I'm not mistaken.

I suppose running in Kiosk mode is no good?

Start > Run and enter
iexplore -k
Don't forget you need to use Alt+F4 to get out of it...

Try this. Start | Run | gpedit.msc. Expand 'User configuration' then 'Administrative templates' then 'Internet Explorer'. Click on 'Toolbars'. Then set the various policies the way you wish.
