Get Mail a Start of Outlook (2002)

My problem is the exact opposite of BarryC's:
I'm on a cable connection and would like Outlook to automatically contact my mail-server and download my mails when I start Outlook. I know it can be done, but I could not find out HOW to do it...
    Thanks for any hints.

    Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Send/Receive...

Have you any scheduled send/receive set up?
I have - as below - and a check for new mail is made when starting Outlook. If you want to prevent a regular check, perhaps you could set it to check every 1000 minutes . . . ?

    Leif,
I have set the refresh to 5 Mins, but it doesn't connect automatically at startup...

I don't have a cable modem, but isn't this setting found in something like Tools, Services, select your mail service/ISP from the Services, click Properties, click the General tab, and check the box "Automatically detect connection state"?

Do you have the check mark in the "Send immediately when connected" box on the Mail seup tab of Options within Outlook?

Yes, I did read this article, but since I have no dial up connection, I can't use the mentioned technique. Thanx anyway for the hint. Jean-Pierre

    Dave,
Yes, I did set the mentioned checkbox, but it sends only, but does not get the mail from the postoffice... Also it activates a connection only when the outbox contains something to send.

Re: Get Mail a Start of Outlook (2002)

    Jean-Pierre,

What you need to do is go to Tools|Options and click on the Send/Receive button. Select your account or the All Accounts group and make sure the 'Include this group in send/receive (F9).' is checked. Then click on the 'Edit...' button. This opens the 'Send/Receive Settings' window. Make sure both the 'Send mail items' and 'Receive mail items' boxes are checked. This will cause Outlook to send and receive mail when it starts.

    Andrew
To make sure, I checked the mentioned options - but all were already set. And it still does not work. The next thing that I will try, is to check at a friends Outlook to compare all settings...Thank you anyway for your help!
